Empowering Students with Dignity and Comfort: The Back to School Undie Drive

As summer draws to a close and the new academic year approaches, The Undie Chest is excited to kick off its annual Back to School Undie Drive. 

With a mission to promote dignity and comfort for students, this drive aims to provide clean and comfortable underwear to students in Title 1 schools through our Everyone Deserves Underwear (EDU) program.

By rallying together as a community, we can empower students to focus on their studies confidently instead of worrying about underwear.

The Significance of Underwear for Dignity and Comfort

Often overlooked, underwear is a fundamental garment crucial to an individual's well-being. For students, having access to clean and properly fitting underwear can significantly influence their sense of dignity and self-worth. 

Unfortunately, many students face the challenge of not having access to such essential items, leading to discomfort and potential embarrassment.

A study conducted by Morar Consulting for JCPenney highlights, "Of the parents that reported sending their children to school without socks or underwear, 51% shared they did so because they could not afford to provide their child with enough pairs of socks or underwear to make it through the week."

 A lack of clean underwear can have a negative impact on students' overall well-being. It can affect their self-esteem, making them feel excluded or different from their peers. 

 Discomfort caused by inadequate undergarments can be distracting, hindering their ability to concentrate on their studies and fully participate in classroom activities.

Back to School Undie Drive: a Simple Initiative to Make a Difference

The Back to School Undie Drive is a powerful opportunity for individuals and businesses nationwide to unite and positively impact students' lives in our community.

There are several ways you can contribute to the Back to School Undie Drive:

1. Donate New Underwear: We accept new, packaged underwear suitable for students ages 8-18. We also accept adult underwear to support the student's parents.

2. Donate and Recycle Gently Used Bras: Recycling old bras is another impactful contribution. Gently-used bras will be repurposed in an environmentally friendly manner, supporting students and sustainability.

3. Host an Undie Drive: Whether you're a business or an individual, you can host your own Undie Drive to encourage your community to get involved and make a difference.

4. Purchase from Our Amazon Wish List: Doing a good deed couldn't be easier! Just follow the link to our wish list, and purchase something we've listed!
